Education Lead
The education lead will guide the design, delivery, and evaluation of Maʿruf Commons’ education and training programs. This role is responsible for shaping meaningful learning experiences, translating research into accessible educational offerings, and cultivating partnerships that expand learning pathways for Muslim communities.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design, Development, and Delivery
- Lead the development of new educational programs and manage existing educational activities.
- Support the development of learning outcomes, pedagogical frameworks, and guide curriculum development across all programs.
- Ensure educational offerings align with organisational values, theological integrity, and contemporary learning needs
- Oversee delivery of all Maʿruf Commons programs, ensuring excellence in facilitation, student experience, and community-building.
- Manage program timelines, workflows, and resources to ensure quality execution across cohorts.
- Serve as a support and escalation point for Program Leads, facilitators, and participants.
Evaluation & Learning
- Oversee development and relevancy of evaluation frameworks.
- Develop monitoring and evaluation plans based on evaluation frameworks.
- Lead structured feedback processes and produce evaluation reports for strategic improvement.
- Ensure learning insights are documented, shared internally, and used to refine future programming.
Learning Community
- Design and implement an approach for cultivating a global learning community across Maʿruf Commons’ digital platforms and learning management system beyond individual course engagement.
- Work with the tech/operations team to ensure the LMS supports accessibility, user-friendly interaction, and layered forms of participation.
- Build guidelines for community facilitation, moderation, and adab-informed engagement to preserve spiritual and interpersonal integrity in digital learning spaces.
- Monitor community engagement and adjust strategy based on what fosters connection, retains learners, and supports inquiry and application.
Team Support & Supervision
- Supervise program leads, curriculum developers, and education content developers.
- Facilitate training, capability building, and performance development for education team members.
- Maintain workflows, expectations, and systems for accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
Partnerships & External Engagement
- Build relationships with educators, institutions, and community organizations to expand learning access and collaboration.
- Identify and evaluate potential co-teaching partners, guest contributors, and external facilitators.
- Represent Maʿruf Commons in educational networks, convenings, and dialogues where relevant.
Leadership Team Contribution
- Serve as a member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, growth, and organizational direction.
- Work alongside the Development Lead on proposals requiring educational framing, evaluation data, or curricular detail.
- Collaborate with Communications Lead to ensure alignment of educational messaging and materials.
Reporting Structure
The Education Lead reports directly to the Director and manages the work of program leads and education content developers.
Terms
- Salary: USD $49,000
- Work Cadence: 3.5 days with possibility of growth to full-time
- Location: Remote (must be able to work according to EST)
- Role is subject to a 3-month probationary period
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum and instruction, or related field.
- Understanding of and commitment to Maʿruf’s intended outcomes of Islamic teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of the adult-learning Muslim education landscape in North America.
- Familiarity with different pedagogical approaches for diverse groups of learners.
- Strong experience communicating and collaborating with subject matter experts and various audiences and community groups.
