We seek to build community in community and with like-minded individuals like you who resonate with our vision and aspire to collectively explore and co-construct solutions to emerging challenges and have a meaningful impact. Our stewards have been essential to nurturing the vision of Maʿruf and bringing it to life through their contributions and commitment.
Since Maʿruf’s founding in 2025, we have been engaged in the careful work of building educational programs and cultivating a community grounded in intentional learning, spiritual embodiment, and belonging. This has required vision as well as the sustained collaboration and contribution of many individuals.

As we continue to grow, we are expanding our community of stewards to expand our reach and impact. Becoming a Community Steward is an invitation to contribute your skills, insight, and professional expertise in service of a shared vision.
Said the Messenger of God ﷺ:
كُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ
“Each of you is a steward [shepherd], and each of you is responsible for his/her flock…”
In line with our core values, Maʿruf seeks to embody a model of Prophetic leadership rooted in responsibility, trust, and service. In practice, this means cultivating a values-driven, collaborative, and professionally grounded community that draws on the diverse experience and expertise of its members.

The research team at Maʿruf advances practice-rooted knowledge by leading core studies, turning academic work and community listening into accessible insights, and growing a collaborative team skilled in reflective inquiry and careful attention to lived experience.
Education
The education team at Maʿruf designs and delivers research-based Islamic learning programs and training that help Muslims integrate intentional learning, spiritual formation, and ethical practice into everyday life.
Communication
The communications team at Maʿruf shapes a clear, recognizable public voice by cultivating Maʿruf Commons–centered content, engaging priority audiences across digital platforms, and elevating the organization’s leadership, ideas, and existing assets in a steady, intentional way.
Stewardship
The stewardship team at Maʿruf cultivates a culture of thoughtful service by equipping stewards with deeper khidma literacy, nurturing spiritual and self-development alongside service, fostering strong peer connections, keeping stewards oriented to Ma’ruf’s evolving priorities, and safeguarding healthy, well-supported work rhythms.
Development
The development team at Maʿruf sustains and grows our work by building relationships with donors, pursuing grants and partnerships, and securing the financial resources needed to expand Ma’ruf’s mission and programs.
